NearlyAce: youre-riding-for-a-fall: i sometimes feel like the only straight ftm...
i sometimes feel like the only straight ftm in the world.
like every ftm on tumblr is really gay haha
no hate, just an observation.
it’s funny how gay people are considered a minority, yet if i compare myself to people the trans community, as someone who…
Not all gay transmen are “proud, loud, and queer”. I would like to just be a normal guy as well. Due to heterosexual privilege, that will never happen. Apparently the fact that I’m gay is all some people need to know about me and it blows.
That said, the pseudotransmen on tumblr give actual gay transmen a bad stereotype. They don’t speak for all of us I want facial hair, muscle groups, a voice that is deep as f*ck, sh*t tons of body hair. I hate wearing anything or acting in any way that can be construed as feminine.
I detest being trans* and wish I could just be a normal guy that loves another normal guy. -
NearlyAce: Passing most of the time, but still worrying.
Without testosterone, there isn’t a whole lot you can do about your face. Some hairstyles might make your face look more masculine than others. A more difficult way to masculinize your face is to drop body fat percentage by working out super hard and modifying your diet.I pass as male about 90 percent of the time, even after I talk. So why am I anxious, worried, and scared to go out and have people see or talk to me? I’m so worried they’ll see me as a girl. When they call me “he” and treat me like a guy, it’s relieving but I still think what if they look at me…

Male Privilege. Or not…
i haven’t noticed gaining many male privileges even though i pass as male majority of the time… i’ve just noticed the double standards there are between males and females in society. what do you guys then, as people who are trans. what have you noticed and gained? have you lost anything?
I don’t know about gaining anything, but I’ve definitely lost a bit.
I’ve lost my heterosexual privilege. Now, when I go out and hold hands with my husband, people will go out of their way to roll down their window and yell “Fags!” or honk at us when we pass by. We get strange looks. People treat us strangely in shops and restaurants. We’ve even been kicked out so “we’re not a bad influence and make people uncomfortable”. I worry for our safety when it’s dark or groups of men pass by.If we’re not doing any sort of PDA, girls will often hit on my partner or myself. Maybe men were just more subtle when I presented as female, but I don’t ever remember being hit on when I was somewhere by myself. It’s funny that feminists think being treated as an object is a female thing when I’ve experienced the reverse.
I’m a shy person and when I presented as female and I’d order food or require help at retailers, other men would be very helpful and friendly. Now it’s just awkward and they act more irritated than anything. Apparently being a shy girl is a-okay(maybe even cute?) but being a shy guy is unacceptable. So much for being myself.
I can’t check out men anymore lest I be punched in the face.
And people are telling me to check my male privilege? They can go fuck themselves.Posted on May 24, 2012 via NearlyAce with 2 notes
